Contemporary Kitchen by Birmingham Architects & Building Designers Erdreich Architecture, P.C.
The kitchen of a home is the center of all activities. So it is essential that you take all care to make it the best and safest place in your home. If you have an open kitchen with the dining space beside it then you need to plan the decor of your kitchen in conformity to the adjacent dining area. But if your kitchen is separate, then you can dress it up the way you think it will be a healthy and convenient place for you and all the members of the family who often visit the kitchen when they get the aroma of tasty food.
A modern kitchen is usually fitted with the necessary wall units and storage aids and other accessories that keep the kitchen neat and easily accessible. But have you thought of using area rugs in the kitchen? It adds life and color to this important room of your home and reflects your style of living. If you are considering area rugs for the kitchen, here are some important points to consider when choosing the contemporary or traditional area rugs.
First of all think about the essential areas where you need the rugs like the area near the stove, refrigerator and the sink. The area where you step out from the kitchen or step in should also be covered with a strong and heavy rug so that when you enter the kitchen in a hurry you do not slip nor will the kids fall when they run to taste the delicacies that you prepare for them.
The second important aspect of choosing the area rug is the quality and the material of the kitchen rugs. For the inside of the kitchen you need to place stain-resistant, waterproof and shockproof rugs for safety reasons. A washable rug is appropriate for the doorway but it has to be of a heavy material so that it stays in place or make sure to use a good quality rug pad underneath the area rug.
But if you have your dining area adjacent to your open kitchen, then you need to consider the decor of the entire space and your dining table style and color. Use kitchen area rugs that enhance the beauty of your home and coordinates with the furniture color and shapes.

Back-to-school acts as both relief and stress. The former is because as a parent, you can have a bit of time to yourself, now that the children will spend a certain portion of their time in school, whereas it is stressful due to the amount of work you have to do. However, if you proceed in a systematic manner, it isn’t really that much of a monster!
Here are a few easy organizing tips to assist you:
Back-to-school can be chaotic to say the least. Music lessons, book clubs, sports activities – there is a lot to be done. Use dry-erase calendar art decals that double as a bulletin board and wall art, which help to maintain a schedule. These are made of vinyl, so the peel-and-stick system allows them to be put up anywhere.
Inspect your house from top to bottom and clean it thoroughly. It is evident that children will bring dirt and dust in the house, so ensure the mudroom has sufficient area rugs so they can wipe their shoes before entering indoors.
There will be abundant homework, which requires a filing system to keep track of everything. You can use storage baskets for homework and projects – there can be an “In” and “Out” system so that you know what is pending and what has been completed. There are different kinds of storage baskets available – some can even be used to store sports equipment too such as a soccer ball, badminton racket, or roller skates.
Create a study-friendly spot for your children – the area should have sufficient lighting (not too bright though) and a comfortable stool for sitting. Nowadays, poufs are also being used frequently in children’s rooms because they are cozy and comfy.
Ensure that the child gets a good-sized work surface and don’t forget to unplug the TV or shut off the wireless router, during study-time.
Plan ahead so that you don’t have to rush in the mornings. Think about the following morning and chalk out a schedule. For instance, breakfast foods should be easy to reach. You should also lay out school clothes the night before.
If you have more than one child, consider jotting down a bathroom schedule so that each kid gets an equal amount of time (one kid shouldn’t spend excess time as it delays the schedule).
There is no hard-and-fast rule in this case because each household operates differently. All you can do to lower the stress and chaos is to stick to a fixed routine as much as possible and make modifications when needed
