White Is Not Boring
Pristine, pure, and chic- white decor makes a dramatic impact that seems always right. The perception has changed, the way people used to think of white as a non color. Today white is beyond that, and has proved umpteenth time from classic to contemporary everything revolves around white. The color provides an ideal setting whether your taste is rustic, urban, contemporary or classic. It not only looks chic but your space appears to be airier and bigger. It acts as the canvas to showcase your other decor elements, creating an inviting look.

White simplifies your space. White decor emphasizes the space instead of the surfaces. Some people try to satisfy the decor of the space with insipid color schemes, it isn’t that it doesn’t work at all, rather why not embrace the space with the color that you will love to see every day. Accentuating your other accessories with the shades of white will not be difficult, as you will get endless options to match with the element.
Not All White Match- Make Selection Carefully
Truly said, not all white makes an excellent match since there are lots of different shades in white available. Choose it carefully since a majority of the other decorative selection depends on the primary shade of white you choose. Accessorizing with white might be easy but it does require just as much of careful attention as with any other color scheme.
Texture, Pattern, and Layering With White
Use texture and pattern to add excitement and warmth to what would otherwise be a boring and cool color pallet. The use of natural materials like natural fiber area rugs as well as contemporary area rugs really help bring the color white to life.
Is White A Practical Color Choice?
All white palettes might look pristine in an interior decoration magazine, but is it practical?
You probably need to consider every aspects before you choose to decorate your space with white. For instance if you have small kids, and pets or a partner who spills coffee often, how will you make white feasible? Use a shabby chic style for your interiors, like slip covered sofas and chairs that can be washed. Select area rugs made from natural fibers that are easy to clean, throw pillows and throw blankets can be washed or dry cleaned.
White Can Unify A Space and Soften Architectural Mishaps
The best part about using the white is you can cover up the decor mistakes easily. Warmer lights and layered lightning will make the clutter look cool. Upholster all your mismatched furniture pieces in white and give your room a unified look. It gives a uniformed, contemporary look that you can have in the most affordable ways.
White is the most refreshing shade of all that can evoke cleanliness and purity. It also provides your space a sophisticated and confident look. Before you decide that your space will never do with the shade of white, think about the above mentioned factors for your interiors.

Having an area rug in the living room transforms the space. It adds comfort and style and also creates a distinguished look.
When selecting a Living room area rug keep in mind a few factors like the layout of the furniture and their colors and also the traffic pattern. Apart from these, you should also consider your lifestyle and the general decor of the room.
Add style to your living room with an area rug
Selecting area rug for the living is not an easy task as a trip to the market would reveal. With so many choices in materials and shapes and designs, you are bound to get confused. However, if you can decide on the floor plan of the living room the task becomes simpler.
If the sofa is set against the wall, you need a big area rug that would cover the space in between and also fit under the front legs of the sofa and chairs.
On the other hand, if the sofa is set in the middle, you need a much larger rug to cover the living area.
Modern home decors use rugs in an innovative way. You may place several small rugs in the living room thus breaking the monotony of space and also adding pop of colors to the living room decor.
The area rug should gel with the color palette of the living room. If the sofa and the table are of solid colors, go for a patterned rug. The secondary color of the rug should coordinate with the color of the key furniture pieces like the sofa or drapes. Similarly, if your living room already showcases a lot of colors on the wall, drapery and the furniture, choose a neutral colored rug to achieve harmony.
There is a large selection of modern area rugs in animal prints available today that can make a living room look outstanding. A living room which has beige, coffee or brown as the dominating color, will look wonderful with a zebra printed area rug.
While choosing rugs, pay attention to the traffic the room receives. Wool and natural fibers like sisal, jute and sea grass add a soft touch to the decor. Rugs made from these materials are sturdy and can withstand heavy foot traffic.
Take a look at Loloi area rugs for your living room a beautiful choice considering their collection and variety. A handmade Oriental rug is perhaps what you are looking for in a living room area rug to make your home stand apart and make every guest appreciate your choice.

It’s almost August and the temperature is going up. We love to spend the last month of summer by the beach if only for a few days in a chic, comfortable, beach cottage; just like this one from the pages of House Beautiful.
I particularly love this look; it’s not the cottage at the beach I remember. It’s warm and inviting traditional yet contemporary. The industrial style lighting is so cool, the mix and matched furniture has a vintage vibe, and the room over all is modern and fresh. As you know cottages are small and the rooms have to be multifunctional, especially when the fog rolls in and everyone gathers inside. This dining room just off the kitchen is perfect for playing games and having a conversation with a few friends as you lounge on the comfy inviting window seat.
Carmel Decor’s designers have curated this modern beach cottage dining room, please contact us if you would like help to create this look for your home.

An area rug unifies groups of furniture and can help in designating different zones in a room. The size of the rug plays a vital role as larger rugs make rooms look larger. So, when buying a modern area rug the first thing you should consider is the size.

Its spring, time for some sunshine and smiles. It is the perfect time to redo your home to spread warmth and love. Like the flowers blooming in your garden, maybe your home can also do with some floral prints. Are you nervous to use floral prints or think that your home would look too girly? Don’t worry; here are some tips to use flower power in your home decor.
Floral prints seem to dominate this spring. As you look around, you will find designers splashing homes with bold graphic floral prints. Using floral designs requires you to grasp the concepts of style, color and proportion. Large floral prints are the design trend of this spring. However, small prints lend a modern look to any home decor. The success of using floral patterns lies in proper mixing of colors and design against a common background.
Make your furniture stand out with floral prints. Simple pieces of furniture like sofas and armchairs can get a fresh look with the right use of floral prints.
Throw pillows with graphic floral prints will add life an otherwise dull beige colored sectional. Choose the pillows with beige prints on a vibrant background. To help the flower patterns stand out, place a few pillows in solid colors on the sofa.
If you are ready to experiment, you can even get floral upholstery or throw covers for your sofas in the living room. To create harmony in your home decor, go for drapes in a single color that will match the colors of the upholstery.
Use area rugs to add a splash of color
using area rugs is a simple idea to brighten up a room. Contemporary area rugs come in beautiful designs that can be used in dining room, bedroom and living room. Floral designs in rugs look very good with upholstery from the same color palette.
Go off the track with unusual colors
If you think floral prints only come in pinks, yellows and blues, you need to check out the spring trends this year. Floral designs in neutral colors like black and white can create powerful home decor statements.
Even use of primary colors in large prints will make your home stand apart.
When it comes to floral designs, you need to mix and match hues and print sizes to create an effect. It is time to go bold with flowers and make your home bloom.

Get Cozy This Fall With The Season’s Colors and Textures
Ever since I finished school, Fall has been my favorite time of the year. During my childhood years of course I didn’t want to go back to school, and the shorter days were very depressing. As I grew older, wiser, and more sophisticated I fell in love with Fall. The change in the season, the way light reflects differently, the beautiful fall landscape is so romantic, so rich in color, and the colder climate is welcoming after the summer heat.
Fall 2013 color is Mykonos Blue, and we can see plenty of it in fashion as well as home decor. Soft, silky velvets in beautiful jewel tones.
Mykonos blue is just the right color to compliment the warm oranges and reds of the changing leaves on the trees. Like these rugs by Surya available at Carmel Decor.
We also love the 2013 color of the year Emerald Green, another warm rich sexy hue inspired by natures color palette.
Gold & bronze, warm metals that glitter and gleam, like the sun as it reflects on the changing colors of the trees. These golden colors are the perfect accent to the saturated colors of fall.
Use gold tones in accessories, the little sparkle adds warmth to the fall ambiance.
There are so many different ways to celebrate the Autumn months, and welcome the change with colors and textures all inspired by nature.
Remember shorter days mean longer nights by candle light.
However you celebrate Autumn, I hope you have been inspired.
