Decorating with Mirrors! How to Design A Room Using Mirrors

Mirrors! A Little Self Reflection is Necessary in Any Room

1a9716b9bf66f4e6c03175372fc0f18e
One of the more classic element in any decor is the use of mirrors, no room would be complete without the light and depth that a mirror adds.   Mirrors aren’t always clear or totally reflective, in fact they can be mysterious or as reflective as you choose. An antique mirror adds patina and age, a concave mirror distorts the truth, and an old fashioned mercury mirror adds old-world glamor and style.

Dinning rooms and living rooms are great places to add mirrors; according to Feng Shui principles the dining room represents a family’s wealth, and the living room is where the family has gatherings and has parties so the mirror magnifies the festive energy.  It’s also the perfect room to play up the luster and sparkle of candle light and mirrors.

Mirrors reflective quality weather clear or blurred are a great way to double the light especially in staircases with limited natural light.

Mirrors for centuries have been used to reflect not just so we can see our selves or anything else clearly; but also, mirrors have a reflective quality that adds glamor and sparkle in a seductive, and abstract  way.

Whatever your style is I hope you have found some inspiration in the rooms above.

You can find beautiful mirrors, poufs and ottomans, decorative pillows, wall decor, area rugs and home accents  to help you bring some self reflection into your home at Carmel Decor.

Decorating With Poufs And Ottomans

The modern-day decorative ottoman gets its roots from the Turkish Empire. In Turkey the ottoman is the center of the living space usually piled with cushions. Today’s decorative ottoman and poufs are one of the most beloved and versatile piece of furniture in interiors, they can be used as foot rests, stools, benches or coffee tables. Pouf and Ottomans come in a variety of shapes and sizes; can be made from a wide range of materials, and the details all depend on your imagination. Here are some of the more popular ottomans in the market today.

Sometimes referred to as “decorative poufs” these unstructured and comfortable home decor accent pieces are light and come in handy as extra seating or a place to rest feet on.

The sensual organic legs on this ottoman adds an air of elegance to any contemporary space, paired up in front of the fireplace.

This ottoman would work beautifully in an entry, or in front of the fireplace in a modern setting.

This large tufted ottoman by MacRae Designs with its beautiful turned legs looks like an antique, and can easily be used as a coffee table bringing a casual feel to what would be a formal room.

We love this contemporary tufted stunner. It’s translucent legs give the ottoman a light and airy feel. Emerson et Cie
