Summertime Inspired Color Schemes

I love the summer season; the long lazy days spent at the beach, summer night’s dining outdoor are just a couple of my favorite things to do. During the summer we spend a lot more time outdoors, it’s when the patio and backyard come to life. Now is a great time to rethink the patio and freshen it up with a new color scheme. It doesn’t have to be a major overhaul but a few decorative changes using summer as inspiration.

Bold and Tropical

when the temperature goes up the bold vibrant colors of the tropics become more and more eye-catching. Tropical color scheme is a classic summer color palette, red, orange, yellow, bright greens and blues liven up a drab patio. A tropical color scheme can be traditional or contemporary, combined with neutral colors like white, black, creams and beiges will showcase your style. With a few accessories like an outdoor area rug, throw pillows and a couple of planters you have instantly created a playful tropical outdoor oasis to enjoy all summer long.

Elegant Pastels

enjoying an evening under the stars; pastels are perfect for creating a romantic outdoor living room. Coral and aqua mixed with whites and neutrals is a sophisticated and elegant summertime color scheme. Beautiful throw pillows, soft throws, candle light and fragrant flowers set the mood for a magical relaxing evening. Add accents of driftwood and branched coral to remind you of the ocean.

Nature and Industrial

The best place to draw inspiration from is nature especially during the summer months. Natural materials like sea grass, pebbles, sea shells plus all the many shades of green on the trees. Relaxing in a patio with this color scheme will calm and sooth your soul. Added accents of industrial style accessories and furniture will make your space come to life.

5c3b4fd8694725f7af6b12251073a8b8Make summer days and nights more memorable by enjoying a meal or snack with friends and loved ones al fresco.  Why not savor the long summer days and cool evenings in your favorite outdoor spot.  Forget about using paper plates and plastic, bring out the china, summer is way too short.

c6efcc43889863ab9399e26d5cc60856There is no better excuse to throw a party than summer.  If your dining room is too small for a large dinner party than why not throw one in the back yard where there is plenty of room.  Put a long table together and get creative with the table setting.

acf547fd5f057dafd23acf03a0536d12We love the look of this beautiful pergola. The vintage chairs and lush landscape is nostalgic and is a favorite spot under the shade to spend lazy summer afternoons, even a cup of coffee would taste so much better lounging on those pillows in the morning.

43b876f28c8b56af85e2fe3fbecf40399Why wait for a special occasion, why not have every meal al fresco.  Treat your outdoor table just like your indoor one; there are so many ways to decorate the table, use colorful tablecloths and dinner plates; don’t forget to add candlelight.  There is no better way to make your outdoor room glow than with the soft light of candles.

I hope this has inspired you.  Do you have any ideas to share?  We would love to hear from you.

The official start of the summer season is Memorial Day, closing on Labor Day, with the 4th of July and Flag Day in the middle.
